Spring Garden Planning

February is the perfect time to start planning the spring garden here in Washington. Strawberry tree arrived 02/03/2026.

This Year's Plan

Cool Season Crops (March-April)

  • Lettuce varieties (buttercrunch, romaine)
  • Spinach
  • Peas (sugar snap and shelling)
  • Radishes
  • Carrots

Warm Season Crops (May-June)

  • Tomatoes (cherry, beefsteak, and paste varieties)
  • Peppers (bell and jalapeño)
  • Zucchini and summer squash
  • Bush beans
  • Cucumbers

Garden Layout

Planning to use raised beds this year to improve drainage. The north side of the property gets great sun exposure - perfect for the tomatoes.

Seed Orders

Already placed orders with:

  • Territorial Seed Company (local to Oregon, great for PNW gardens)
  • Baker Creek for heirloom varieties

Next Steps

  1. Build raised beds (March)
  2. Amend soil with compost
  3. Start tomato seeds indoors (mid-March)
  4. Direct sow cool-season crops (early April)
